Ecoville-Georgia Recycling Coalition
The Georgia Recycling Coalition (GRC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The mission of the GRC is to compliment and coordinate activities relative to recycling, to foster communications among professionals, organizations, government agencies and individuals, and to promote and enhance reduction and recycling programs throughout the state.

StatusJune 2010Sustainable Atlanta met with the City of Atlanta, Division of Sustainability to discuss the development of a zero waste strategy. The policy recommendations drafted by the RMM Taskforce will be an essential component in developing this strategy. December 2009RMM Taskforce members agreed on a final list of nine policy recommendations that will be presented to the Atlanta City Council for review. July-September 2009Sustainable Atlanta compiled a draft report that outlines the plans and progress of the RMM Taskforce and presents suggested action steps for implementation of each policy recommendation. May-July 2009Additional stakeholders vetted the work of the RMM Work Group and provided input as to the challenges, opportunities and resources available to develop new recycling markets and infrastructure within the City of Atlanta. January-April 2009RMM Work Group revised the language of the recycling recommendations and began to outline action steps necessary for implementation. September-December 2008RMM Work Group established a mission to increase the amount of commercially viable, recoverable resources going to the most beneficial end markets, while encouraging development of new markets. Next StepsSeptember 2010Sustainable Atlanta will work with the City of Atlanta and The Institute for Local Self Reliance to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of each proposed recycling recommendation. The analysis will be completed by September 2010. |
